Konzert: Zwischen die Ohren
In the organizer's words:
Saturday, September 12,
Between the Ears – “Musighi – tiehierF”
Guest: Ehsan Ebrahimi, santur
“Freedom!”—a cry—repeated time and again with urgency and necessity.
Music, too, calls for freedom. In its unique characteristics and connections—both within itself and “outward”—it offers abundant points of reference for ideas and repertoire related to this theme. On this evening, these will be explored in the context of the political situation in Iran.
The evening’s musical guest is Ehsan Ebrahimi. He plays the “santur,” a Persian hammered dulcimer, an instrument with a long tradition in Iranian music.
Ehsan received his training in the “santur” and in composition initially in his hometown of Mashhad (Iran). He subsequently continued his composition studies at the universities in Hanover and Bremen.
He works in the field of contemporary music and also collaborates with ensembles focused on intercultural and traditional Iranian music: Ensemble Musikfabrik, Ensemble Megaphon, Assambura Ensemble, and Ensemble Gohar.
Ehsan and the two hosts of the series, Carsten Bethmann and Holger Kirleis, are dedicating this evening to the democracy movement in Iran.
