Creative plant press workshop

WIESENARCHIV: We bring the meadows into the city. Designing and filling a plant press

In this workshop you will design your own plant press. The components of the presses are prepared. Using a stationary drill, you will drill holes in the wooden panels for the screw fittings and cut inlay paper to fit. You can design and personalize your plant press with stamps. You will then select fresh (wild) flowers, blossoms and leaves from a wide range that we provide and insert them professionally.

You will learn how to layer and press plants correctly and take your own press home with you.

Depending on the time available, you will also create small botanical postcards with plants that we have already pressed.
You will also learn about slow flower gardening and about flowering wild plants and herbs that can also be found in the city.

A peaceful workshop between wood, nature and handicrafts.

Procedure

• Introduction to plants and the pressing principle
• Assemble wooden press (drill 2 approx. 26 × 13 cm three-layer boards (spruce), 4 wing screws, cut inlay boxes to size at the corners)
• Drilling phase (participants take turns in the workroom)
• Personalize the wooden press (stamp)
• Filling and assembling the press (plants and papers are provided)
• Design cards with plants we have already pressed
• Possibly tips for handling the press at home
• In addition to your new press and perhaps your postcards, you are also welcome to take fresh (wild) flowers and grasses with you

From 7.5.-27.6.26, for two summer months, we will have a pop-up store and workspace with our furniture and design label JUNIJULI in a small store in the seasonal store at Körnerstrasse 46 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. In the store you can buy our design objects and we invite you to creative workshops with us on two Saturdays!

Our workshops are both a meeting place and a design space. We invite you to be creative in a prepared space, create something of your own and take a piece of nature home with you at the end.

• Small group, maximum 6 people
• Group requests are possible. For fixed groups, more places may be possible by arrangement.
• All materials included, tea or cold drinks on site. During the break you have the opportunity to get a coffee from our neighbors, wonderful coffee roasters on Körnerstraße, in cups that we will give you for this purpose.
• IF YOU BOOK BY JUNE 6TH, WE'LL GIVE YOU A COFFEE VOUCHER FOR VAN DYCK ACROSS THE STREET!
• Workshops take place with 5 or more participants. Bookings can be made up to 3 days in advance and can be canceled up to 7 days before the day of the course. After that, the participant can provide another person to take their place.
