Dots, mirrors, colors and good vibes: At Kunstspäti Kusama. Dots into Infinity we invite you to a special evening at Museum Ludwig. During short guided tours, you will discover the extensive retrospective of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, whose iconic polka dots, pumpkins and infinity rooms are world-famous. Kusama's work revolves around infinity, repetition and the connection between man, nature and the cosmos - themes that run impressively through all the rooms of the exhibition.
In addition, we take a look at the historical context of her work and ask in which artistic environment Kusama worked. Together, we will look at what developments were taking place in Europe and the USA at the same time and what art Kusama's contemporaries were creating.

A creative activity and a quiz invite you to join in, while @cherry.picking.x3 creates the right atmosphere with her DJ set in the foyer. Afterwards, there will be time to share impressions, talk and network over cool drinks.

Note for your visit: During the Kunstspätis, only the rooms of the special exhibition Yayoi Kusama and the Museumstraße on the second floor are open. The roof terrace and other museum rooms are not accessible on this evening.

What is an art latei?

Since October 2015, jungekunstfreunde and job&kunstfreunde have been offering the Kunstspäti, an event format that allows our guests to visit the museums after regular opening hours. Once a quarter, usually on the third Thursday of the month, we alternate between the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and the Museum Ludwig from 18:00 - 22:00. Our Kunstspätis offer a varied program of short guided tours and hands-on activities, as well as drinks and music in the museum foyer.

Kunstspäti is sponsored by Media Broadcast and VAN HAM Kunstauktionen

Please note that the number of participants per guided tour is limited to a maximum of 25 or 15 people. Registration takes place on site in the museum foyer - 10 minutes before the start of each tour. Just look for the sign saying "Treffpunkt" (meeting point).
As places are limited, it may unfortunately not be possible for all those interested to take part in a tour if there is a large number of people. We ask for your understanding in this case.

You will receive an overview of all guided tours directly at the museum on the evening itself.

We would like to expressly point out that photos will be taken for social media during our events. If you do not wish to be photographed, please contact us directly or raise an objection afterwards via email to: job@kunstfreunde.koeln
