In the organizer's words:
Many of those who once gained the skills they needed for their future careers in the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra are now big names on the scene. Indeed, this big band—where musicians between the ages of 16 and 25 can both develop a sense of community and express their individuality—is a breeding ground for German jazz talent. In the LJJB, freedom and openness, curiosity, and a thirst for knowledge are prerequisites for collaboratively developed programs that defy convention and stylistically transcend the boundaries of jazz.
For in addition to the typical tonal colors of jazz and swinging rhythms, elements of funk, fusion, Latin, and hip-hop enliven the music of this ensemble, which plays with youthful vigor and great passion.
The open-minded approach that the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra stands for develops quite naturally from its educational concept, which is the top priority. This ensemble is made up entirely of young people who can discover themselves in the most beautiful and creative way through making music together.
