HOLDING UP THE SKY WITH BOTH HANDS:
A childhood and youth in a state of emergency and a girl who becomes the heroine of her own story.
Lale grows up in the 80s in a Berlin men's commune where parties are celebrated and revolutions are planned. She is allowed to stay awake as long as she wants, eat sweets and watch TV forever. But she longs for security and reliability, while her own boundaries are repeatedly transgressed. On the fine line between freedom and neglect, Lale searches for her way, teeters on the edge and years later finds stability in the story itself.
Authentic, vulnerable, poetically compelling.
Lilli Tollkien, born in Berlin in 1980, began various training courses and studied directing and music therapy in Berlin and Heidelberg.
