Lesung: Zwischen Druckpressen und Buchgeschichte

In the organizer's words:

"Between printing presses and book history"

A special reading by the association LeseLust Leipzig e.V. on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the association

Letterpress printing with movable type was an invention that changed the world. You can find out more about the founder and his workshop in the story "Johannes Gutenberg and the Work of Books" (Kindermann Verlag Berlin). To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Leselust e.V. association will be reading from this story and from the book "Der Wortschatz" (Nord-Süd Verlag), taking readers young and old back to Gutenberg's time around 1450. Surrounded by the smell of ink and historical presses, we will immerse ourselves in the world of book printing. As a souvenir, all listeners can then print a card on the platen press.

LeseLust Leipzig e.V. has been committed to promoting reading among children for 20 years. Originating as an initiative of Leipzig students, the association has developed into a reliable partner for reading promotion in Leipzig and works 100% on a voluntary basis. Around 150 reading mentors are active in the association and regularly read to children in institutions and many other places in Leipzig. In this way, they get the next generation excited about stories and books and encourage them to read for themselves.

We are delighted that the association will also be visiting us at the Museum of Printing Arts on June 12.
