Linoldruck 101: Workshop
In the organizer's words:
Have you ever stood in awe of a linocut and wondered how it’s done? Or do you perhaps have some fond memories from your school days that you’d like to revisit? Then you’ve come to the right place!
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn the basics of linoleum printing. I’ll give you a brief introduction to the materials and techniques, and then you’ll get right to work. You’ll choose your own design, transfer it to your A5-sized linoleum plate, and then start carving. Once you’re happy with your plate, you’ll apply the ink and print your design onto paper. It doesn’t matter if this technique is completely new to you, if it’s been a long time since you last tried it, or if you’re already an enthusiastic printmaker. I’ll be on hand at all times to offer help and answer any questions. At the end, everyone takes their own printing plate home—and, of course, the prints they’ve created—to frame and hang, or to give as gifts.
We’ll draw, tinker, share ideas, and get creative together. You’re welcome to come alone or sign up as a group. There’s room for a maximum of 10 participants. Everyone is welcome—including children, of course. However, due to the sharp tools, I recommend this workshop for ages 10 and up. I’ll bring water and some snacks for you; other cold drinks can be purchased from the on-site refrigerator.
All materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary.
