maiskind – Tanzworkshop

The workshop is a queer gathering mediated through set interactions inspired by dance, music and poetry. A safe space will be created for participants to empower each other with more than words. The workshop also serves as an invitation to the Dance Gathering on Sunday, June 28, on the roof of the Bundeskunsthalle.

maiskind was founded as a queer artistic community in Cologne in 2020. The community is inspired by the cultural knowledge of its ancestors. This knowledge reveals itself in many different forms and challenges Western perspectives.

For maiskind, as a queer community, corn becomes a beautiful metaphor: we are all born different - with different colors, shapes and stories - and we are all valuable and beautiful just as we are.

maiskind seeks a shared experience in Dance Gathering because, as maiskind says, "it's not about you, it's about all of us".

The workshop is open to everyone, dance experience is not required.
