Das am Meer gelegene Dorf Iyi ist in spirituellem Einklang mit der westafrikanischen Meerjungfrauengöttin MAMI WATA. Doch eines Tages konnten die Heilkräfte von Mama Efe, der Vermittlerin zwischen den Dorfbewohnern und der Göttin, das Leben eines Kindes nicht mehr retten. Hätte moderne Medizin das Kind retten können? Jabi, ein Bewohner der Region, stellt daraufhin die bestehende matriarchale spirituelle Ordnung in Frage. Das Gleichgewicht dieser kleinen Insel ist bedroht. Die Tochter und der Schützling von Mama Efe, Zinwe und Prisca, kämpfen für die Bewahrung der traditionellen Glaubensgrundsätze. In diesem Spielfilm hält der Regisseur C.J. „Fiery“ Obasi die Zeit an und inszeniert eine moderne Schwarz-Weiß-Fabel.

The seaside village of Iyi maintains spiritual harmony with the West African mermaid goddess MAMI WATA. But one day, the healing powers of Mama Efe, the mediator between the villagers and the goddess, failed to save the life of a child. Could modern medicine have saved the child? Jabi, a resident of the region, then questions the existing matriarchal spiritual order. The balance of this small island is threatened. The daughter and foster child of Mama Efe, Zinwe and Prisca, fight to preserve the traditional beliefs. In this feature film, director C.J. "Fiery" Obasi halts time, staging a modern black-and-white fable.
