The guest performance of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra promises Mozart bliss and Mahler delight. Principal conductor Daniel Harding is one of the most important Mahler interpreters of our time. The Portuguese Maria João Pires, on the other hand, is considered the Mozart pianist par excellence.
One of the milestones of the Mozart discography is Maria João Pires' recording of the C major Piano Concerto KV 467, which she recorded with Claudio Abbado in the 1990s. It is with this very concerto that she is now to be heard. Before Daniel Harding, once promoted by Abbado, conducts Mahler's 7th Symphony, premiered in Prague in 1908 - this multi-faceted throw for hugely scored orchestra with its waltz rhythms, herd bells and folk song borrowings.
