Sun, beach, and a life of self-determination: After coming out later in life, 76-year-old Vicente is enjoying his freedom in Gran Canaria. But after suffering a stroke, he is forced to return to San Sebastián and, once again, hide part of his identity in a nursing home. “Maspalomas” tells a moving yet life-affirming story of queer visibility in old age, lost freedom, and the courage to remain true to oneself time and again.
