About the event:
An event of the Musikerinitiative Bremen e.V.
The Musikerinitiative Bremen is celebrating its 50th birthday! After the festival kick-off in the Städtische Galerie Bremen (Thu 28.8.) and in the MIB-Saal (Fri 29.8.), the weekend in the Schwankhalle is all about musical diversity. On Sat 30.8. five concerts offer the opportunity to experience the whole spectrum of contemporary jazz: Piano virtuoso Svetlana Marinchenko and her trio SVM3 explore musical boundaries. The sextet KIND playfully questions whether jazz is necessarily bourgeois entertainment or can rather trigger existential debates. At the center of the band KNOBIL is 25-year-old Louise Knobil, who shares her musical diary between polyamory, sleep deprivation and pesto recipes with double bass and voice. The Sheen Trio, led by Iranian clarinettist Shabnam Parvaresh, shapes its music like a mythical means of transportation - voluptuous and sensual. The Black Mirror Ensemble from Bremen closes the evening with unconventional jazz that sets digitalization, politics and science fiction to music with dystopian charm.
On Sun 31.8. the Affobakka Jazzalocca workshop invites children and their families to a participatory concert on Peter-Zadek-Platz. At the end of the festival, 20 MIB musicians will give a big anniversary concert: "50 Years MIB - On The Fly" - a three-hour concert evening, from duo to large ensemble, from acoustic to electric, from time to free.

Accessibility:
All public areas of the Schwankhalle are at ground level and accessible without steps.
There are three different toilets: a barrier-free toilet that can also be used by wheelchair users, a toilet with 3 toilet cubicles and a toilet with urinals and a toilet cubicle.
The public area in the grandstand is usually seated.
The wheelchair spaces are usually located in the front row and can be reserved in advance by calling 0421 520 80 70, sending an email to ticket@schwankhalle.de or entering them in the ticket store.
Individual requirements such as specific seats, early boarding or an additional ticket for an accompanying person can also be specified when purchasing or reserving tickets.
