cuba kultur celebrates 40 years of cuba with
Minton - Butcher - Hirt
Erhard Hirt, long-time curator of the cuba kultur program, invites two of his old comrades-in-arms to join him on stage to celebrate the anniversary. He has been working with the two British musicians Phil Minton and John Butcher since the 1990s. The trio's first release with concert recordings from Brussels and Nancy appeared in 1995 on the renowned Berlin label FMP and was described by critics as a "collaborative sound sculpture".
Minton and Butcher have been touring the world for decades in a variety of projects and have significantly influenced the development of improvised music with their individual style. According to Westfälische Nachrichten, Erhard Hirt is "a Merlin of sounds" and works his electric guitar "like a magic wand". The jazz critic Todd M. McComb describes him as an "endlessly creative texturalist".
