The powerful dance theater production THE UPRISING transforms the stage into a place of rebellion, activism and collective resistance. The team of FLINTA artists tackles the evaluation, discrimination and exclusion of their own bodies and questions patriarchal structures and the male gaze. THE UPRISING deconstructs who is seen, who decides and who is silenced, and insists on visibility on their own terms. Developed with artistic audio description, Monique Smith-McDowell's new production is created by and for female, black, queer and disabled perspectives and continues her practice of placing marginalized bodies at the center. THE UPRISING is not just a performance, but a protest in motion - a physical and emotional uprising that demands equality, responsibility and change.
