Movie content:
"As soon as I got home from school, I took off my hijab in the courtyard," the director remembers her childhood in Iran in the 1980s and shows a photo of a smiling girl with a hair clip and school uniform: headscarf in one hand, book bag in the other. Farahnaz Sharifi creates an alternative history of Iran from her own pictures and memories, as well as photographs rescued from flea markets by strangers. The personal is always political and the work on the archive stands for the struggle for identity as well as the fight against oblivion, to which the mother, who suffers from dementia, falls victim. Dancing becomes a gesture of resistance, oppression is confronted with solidarity, courage grows out of anger. The revolution continues! Silvia Bauer
