Twenty-four hours in Memphis, Tennessee: In the Hotel Arcade the most different fates meet. One room is occupied by the Japanese tourists Jun and Mitzuko, who are following in the footsteps of their idol Elvis Presley. The Italian widow Luisa also stays at the same hotel. She has to share a room with the incessantly talking Dee Dee, who has just broken up with her boyfriend Johnny. And Johnny, too, eventually ends up at the Arcade: drunk as a skunk, he is put up in a filthy room by his friends. Seemingly independent of each other, all the stories are connected by one thing - a gunshot.
