In the organizer's words:
In Nana Rashid's music, two souls, two temperaments dance together. There is this Nordic jazz touch in her songs, the melancholy, the spherical, the mysterious. And there is this side of her that lets it all out, the whole range of emotions, the heartfelt, soul, blues. Her personal story also resonates whenever Nana Rashid sings. This fabulously fabulous storyteller is at home in Denmark, but has roots in Oman and on the island of Zanzibar off the coast of East Africa.
Nana Rashid's poetry-rich debut album Music for Betty was a big hit with critics in our neighboring country. They voted the singer Best New Jazz Artist of the Year. And the press wrote that she stood out from the ranks of Danish singers. She is now also being noticed abroad. Nana Rashid performed at Jazz in Marciac, gave a sold-out concert at London's Ronny Scott's, gave guest performances all over Europe and even in Asia.
