Kinderhilfe Mesopotamien e.V., the initiative "Kölner Helfen" and the association "Städtepartnerschaft Köln-Qamishlo" cordially invite you to a joint celebration of the Kurdish New Year Newroz.
Our Newroz festival 2024 will take place
on Thursday, the 21.03.2024 from 18 o'clock
in the Ehrenfeld community center, Venloer Str. 429, 50825 Cologne
Newroz is a festival of new beginnings and is one of the most important Kurdish holidays. It marks the beginning of spring and symbolizes the longing for peace and freedom. Newroz is one of the most important pillars of Kurdish identity, as it has always stood for the struggle for recognition and thus for the struggle for essential basic and human rights.
There will be a short program with contributions and reports on the situation on the ground in Northern and Western Kurdistan (Eastern Turkey and Northern Syria).
Afterwards we would like to spend the evening together with you with Govend (dance) to live music by Ali (Agirê) Jiyan and Zinar Sozdar, food and drinks, the traditional Newroz fire and many nice personal conversations.
Free admission, donations are welcome to cover the costs and support the local projects.
