In October 2021, Helge Letonja’s dance ensemble Of Curious Nature from Bremen performed in Leverkusen for the first time (the first dance guest performance at the end of the pandemic) and thrilled the audience with contemporary interpretations of the Préludes.

Now the virtuoso company, featuring an international cast, returns with two new pieces: “Arcadia” (2026) is by British choreographer Matthew William Robinson, the artistic director of the Zfin Malta company. He explores the human tendency to revolve around one’s own image and self-presentation, staging the dancers on a sports field. (Is there a better setting for the sports city of Leverkusen?) In contrast, the piece “Skin Deep” (2025) by company founder Helge Letonja moves away from self-absorption and toward the sensory richness of the skin and the embrace. Should we literally get under each other’s skin more, so as not to lose our compassion and humanity, he asks in his emotional choreography?

In June 2026, choreographer Helge Letonja will receive the Special Prize from INTHEGA, the professional association of the touring theater industry. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the touring theater industry and its diverse artistic facets.
