Moderated book presentation with beer tasting

A literary journey through the cultural history of beer awaits the audience on the summer stage at the Kultur: Haus Dacheröden: Jaroslav Rudiš, one of the best-known Central European storytellers, will be our guest, and in his new book he pays tribute to beer in a way that is as clever as it is entertaining.

For Rudiš, who grew up in the beer paradise of Bohemia, beer is far more than just a drink - it is a cultural asset, a social space, a piece of lived history. In his book, he follows the trail of the golden barley juice from Pilsen via Budweis and Bamberg, through the "holy beer triangle" of Central Europe to Belgium, Ireland, Italy and even Iceland. Along the way, he meets brewers, hop farmers, beer sommeliers - and passionate storytellers about beer - and combines their stories with personal travel impressions, historical anecdotes and literary wit.

Jaroslav Rudiš, born in 1972 in Lomnice nad Popelkou, is a writer and playwright and has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czech Medal of Merit, among other honors. He is known for works such as "Winterberg's Last Journey", the graphic novel "Nachtgestalten" (with Nicolas Mahler) and "Gebrauchsanweisung fürs Zugreisen". He now lives in Berlin and is considered one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary German-Czech literature.

The moderated book presentation will be led by Mario Osterland (writer & literary mediator), who will talk to the author about literature, travel, beer culture and the stories behind the book.

During the break, Sten Schmidt from Bierrufer from Michaelisstraße will complement the literary encounter with a special tasting: two selected 0.25 l beers will be served, rounding off the evening in terms of taste and allowing the cultural diversity of the beer tradition to be experienced through the senses.
