open excess - mixed-abled Jazz Trio feat. Isabelle Bodenseh
In the organizer's words:
Lucca Keller (piano), Torben Schug (bass), and Till Menzer (drums) featuring Isabelle Bodenseh (flute)
open excess champions both: rousing jazz and the opening up of jazz concert stages in Germany to greater diversity and artists with disabilities. As spontaneously as jazz itself, the musicians Lucca Keller (piano), Torben Schug (bass), and Till Menzer (drums) of open excess first came together for the 2021 RoboLAB Festival at Odonien in Cologne, where they discovered their shared fascination for music that emerges in the moment. Thus, the combo’s trademark is its effervescent energy and joy of playing, paired with plenty of wit.
Isabelle Bodenseh is a German-French flutist, composer, and improvisational artist. After studying in Frankfurt, Los Angeles, and Havana (on a one-year scholarship), she developed a distinctive musical style that blends jazz, classical, Latin, world music, and free improvisation. As a soloist, she captivates audiences with her warm tone, rhythmic precision, and extraordinary expressiveness on the C, alto, and bass flutes. She regularly collaborates with renowned musicians such as Richie Beirach, Tony Lakatos, Benedikt Jahnel, and Christoph Spendel.
