Silent Film Concert

French cellist and composer Cécile Lacharme will perform at the COMEDIA Theater in Cologne on July 16, 2026, to present her original composition for the restored German silent film *HANSEATEN*. In collaboration with the Deutsche Kinemathek, the performance will be recorded live and synchronized with the restored film, bringing a century-old work back to life through a contemporary musical voice.

Cécile Lacharme is an artist whose work consistently operates at the intersection of instrumental music and cinematic language. With her cello and a pedalboard, she creates immersive, multi-layered soundscapes in real time through layered loops and textures, utilizing 360-degree sound distribution that immerses the audience in an experience akin to cinema itself. She has toured and performed throughout Europe, Asia, and beyond for many years. Her compositional practice is deeply rooted in the audiovisual field: she composed the film score for the documentary *À Notre Santé* (Couac Productions, 2023) as well as the original music for the Arte Radio podcast *Presque Mère* (2024).
