OPEN HOUSE: mama bring me home
In the organizer's words:
Performance by OPEN HOUSE
Your world is shaken by moves, breakups, endings, beginnings, new and old experiences. Above it all, waiting for you to fall, hangs the safety net. Mom, take me home. Home and mother as the ideal last resort. Now that the world is falling apart around us—Mom, please, please, carry me home. But many of us have no mother and no clear sense of home. Home and family as something that must be fought for. Something that must be built from nothing, without a blueprint. We’re talking about what we’ve created for ourselves. A home against all odds. A home of resistance—after migration, as guest workers, after being ostracized for being queer, after fleeing abuse. We want to show you hope. A home that, despite everything, will simply be there someday. And stay.
OPEN HOUSE is an open, self-organized project in which young people collaborate to develop plays and performances. We work together and share responsibility for many different tasks. There are no bosses giving orders. Instead, we help each other and make decisions together. Have you always wanted to direct a play yourself, choreograph someone, build a set, operate the technical equipment, or perform on stage? Here you can try your hand at all of that. Even if you’re more into visual arts, writing, or music, you’re very welcome. We work across a wide range of disciplines, always guided by the motto: whatever you bring to the table has a place here!
