Östro430

Östro 430 have always been a very special band. A short trip back in time:

It's the late 70s and early 80s, and in Düsseldorf dozens of young groups are rehearsing the revolution: Male, Mittagspause (later Fehlfarben), ZK (later Tote Hosen), S.Y.P.H., Der Plan, DAF. Their barricade, stage and beer counter is the Ratinger Hof, which quickly becomes the German "Mecca of punk". But even here Östro 430 break every law.

Their music is upbeat, melodic, brute and do-it-yourself. The crowning glory are the song lyrics: songs like "Sexual Emergency", "S-Bahn" and "Too Cool" become classics. They make it onto television, the British NME and even BRAVO. The world needs the Östros, but it misses its chance: In 1984 Östro 430, Role Models in a time when the term didn't even exist, disband after a farewell tour.

39 years later, the world gets a second chance. Tapete Records are the first to recognize this. Already in 2020 they re-release Östro's complete studio recordings from the 80s, the compilation "No crisis can shock me". The response is overwhelming: the feuilletons suddenly ennoble Östro 430 to high culture, younger musicians pay their respects.

The unthinkable happens: Östro 430 appear on tribute albums and events for Rio Reiser and Stoppok with new cover recordings And they play live again. New ideas become new songs, meet the old band motto "Don't babble, do it" - and so inevitably the new album is born: "Punkrock Hausfrauenart".

Old men everywhere you look. And smart alecks. And word policemen. Eternally-strict people who believe they are swimming against the tide. Self-proclaimed world enlighteners who drive their SUVs to lame-ass fetes. But there's still a glimmer of hope that maybe they can fuck the whole system after all. After all, there are still hot men's butts - and Östro 430.

Östro 430 can't help but be different from everyone else. Punk rock, but housewife style: no guitars - and still straight. With lyrics that reinvent the rhyming lexicon: They put "dictator" on "vibrator" and "butt" on "pimpern". They lash out at all kinds of bourgeoisie: power-hungry populists, conservative old punks, ignorant environmental pigs and politically over-correct people who dictate shitstorms. And the estros can even be other than other, namely vulnerable. In "Bleib hier" it says: "You say I love for fear of being alone and every word kicks in my future".
