Past Self from Las Vegas call their sound "k-goth". The band combines darkwave, post-punk, shoegaze and dream pop with Korean and English lyrics, visual kei influences and a clear proximity to classic goth and ethereal wave sounds.

Past Self was founded by Sung on vocals and guitar, æther on keys and Spektor on bass. The band emerged from the earlier project Luxury Furniture Store and developed in a darker, more ethereal direction from 2020 onwards. Several releases have appeared under the name Past Self since 2023, including the EP Die Cry Hate, the Premonitions EP and the single 약속 / Yaksok.

In their songs, Korean and English lyrics meet echoing guitars, cool synths and a sound somewhere between darkwave, shoegaze and post-punk. It's not just about style references, but also about alienation, memory, identity and the feeling of standing between different cultural spaces.

Past Self have quickly made a name for themselves in the US goth scene and have already been on the bill with acts such as Mareux, Drab Majesty, Twin Tribes, Pink Turns Blue and Vision Video.
