Settle in on your picnic blanket and enjoy great music on the Westwiese in front of Villa Berg. Whether it’s red wine from a carton, gourmet cheese with fig mustard, or fresh orange juice—it’s up to you, because you’ll have to bring your own. In a relaxed atmosphere, we invite you to special open-air concert evenings:

Picnic Concert on September 15 – Mira Lu Kovacs

Virtuosity and magic in her instrument and voice, counterbalanced by a directness in her storytelling that is at times pushed to the limit; the courage to carry her pop appeal into the future with a certain quirkiness, coupled with a self-assured presence and a clear message: Through her recordings, both on and off stage, Mira Lu Kovacs has carved out a cozy little home with a garden in the collective memory of music lovers. The scope of Mira’s work is constantly expanding. Every milestone reached serves as a starting point for the next stage of development: new songs, new forms, new possibilities. Following select releases in 2020—including a cover of the Enya classic “Only Time”—a sort of “second debut” will be released in spring 2021: For the first time, an album bears her real name, Mira Lu Kovacs. The album will be titled “What Else Can Break.” 

Picnic Concert on September 2 – Gina Été

Prosopagnosia refers to the inability to recognize people by their faces—for patients with this condition, individuals are not immediately and unambiguously recognizable. For Swiss singer-songwriter GINA ÉTÉ, this unique trait is the inspiration for her second album, which she has titled “Prosopagnosia.” “Sometimes I don’t recognize people, even if I’ve known them for a long time. Based on this, I asked myself whether this could be seen not as a disease but as a gift or a blessing, because it allows you to get to know a person anew each time and view them without prejudice—for example, with regard to racism or sexism,” the musician explains.  GINA ÉTÉ has already demonstrated that she consistently incorporates politics and social issues into her art with her impressive 2021 debut album “Erased By Thought.” In “Trauma,” she explores the psychological scars of fleeing from Syria to Europe; in “All or Nothing,” she addresses the climate crisis; and the song “Mauern” from her EP “Oak Tree” served as her swan song to Donald Trump. Her HybridPop—as complex as it is catchy—has earned her comparisons to Radiohead and Björk: rhythmically intricate, genre-fluid, with influences from classical music and jazz. It’s no wonder that the trained violist is regularly asked by acts to arrange for string sections (Sophie Hunger, Panda Lux) or to provide support during live shows. For example, she accompanies Swiss indie greats like Faber, Black Sea Dahu, and To Athena on tour, as well as the Canadian singer-songwriter and film composer Patrick Watson.
