Franco-German Day takes place every year on January 22 - a very special date in the history of Franco-German relations, because on January 22, 1963, Konrad Adenauer and Charles de Gaulle signed the Élysée Treaty, which forms the cornerstone of the friendship between France and Germany. 40 years later, in 2003, Gerhard Schröder and Jacques Chirac launched the first Franco-German Day. On January 22, 2019, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed the close cooperation between the two countries with the Treaty of Aachen and decided, among other things, to establish the Franco-German Civic Fund.
To celebrate the Franco-German friendship in 2024, the organizers Bérengère Aubineau and Corinna Oetken, the founders of the non-profit organization Serge&Nina, which specializes in intercultural French music projects in Germany, have invited the up-and-coming Düsseldorf band Jule Blumt, multi-talented David Walters and the new shooting star Skia to the zakk for PopAffaire 2024 on 27 January 2024 . Francophones, Francophiles, people who are convinced of the Franco-German connection or simply people who enjoy music are invited to spend an evening celebrating Franco-German friendship.
The evening will be opened by Jule Blumt, a pop band from Düsseldorf led by singer and lyricist Jule Blum and pianist and producer Lukas Lohner.
Skia will take to the zakk stage immediately afterwards. Skia is a figure of the new feminist rap scene in France and is characterized by her sensitivity and vulnerability, which she shows publicly - rap between folk ballad, well-placed freestyles, social criticism and introspection.
Finally comes multi-talented David Walters, who has created an astonishing repertoire characterized by electronic beats and acoustic folk with Afro-Caribbean influences. As a singer, multi-instrumentalist, child of the Caribbean and great traveler, David Walters takes his audience on a colorful journey and tells a rich and boundless story with a DJ set where curiosity and surprise are key. After delivering his albums in fiery live performances, he presents an exciting mix of his own songs, which he sings live, and Francophone music by other companions on the occasion of the Franco-German Day.
