... our guest is the director Kani Lapuerta!

Over a period of eight years, the director follows trans teenager Karla in the small Mexican town of Tepoztlán. The camera witnesses Karla's development, from the first steps of transition to her coming of age. In an environment where traditional values and the reality of a queer identity clash time and again, Karla and the filmmaker find each other in conversations characterized by openness, empathy and mutual trust. The result is intimate portraits of their friendship, but also authentic insights into Karla's hopes, doubts and her search for acceptance.
