Hermann Göring is arrested by the Allies and, as the highest-ranking remaining Nazi, is to be brought to justice for the inconceivable deeds of the Nazi regime. The psychiatrist Dr. Kelley is commissioned to examine all the defendants for their fitness to stand trial. He is quickly taken in by Göring's acumen and charisma, and although he sees through his power games, Dr. Kelley finds it difficult to escape the manipulative power and fascination of evil. In order to gain Göring's trust, Dr. Kelley crosses moral boundaries and even jeopardizes the Nuremberg trial.
