Rekorder für immer! Nilla

In March, the Rekorder, one of the most important independent cultural institutions in our city, had to close. The closure of the Rekorder further thinned out the city's independent cultural scene. Unfortunately, there is hardly anything left outside of the large venues - and this is not only regrettable for its own sake, but also extremely problematic from a city policy perspective. Dortmund may be excellently marketed as a "great cultural location in the middle of the Ruhr metropolis", but the reality is frighteningly different. There is an urgent lack of venues for local release concerts, international insider tips and subcultural networks. There are hardly any such places left.

Nilla is a DJ based in Dortmund. Influenced by Dutch rave culture, through which she found her passion for DJing with records, she mainly plays vinyl. Her energetic, varied sound can be described as rave. Mostly technoid, there are also trance, wave and hardcore elements. She is part of the Dortmund-based music collective flinta*4rave, which is committed to overcoming cis-male dominance in the music scene.
