The four musicians of RHIZOME PARK are connected by a hidden network of roots. They have played together for decades - in addition to other musical activities - in different combinations and styles, e.g. Hiby/Manderscheid/Moholo, Frank Schulte "Switchbox", Tome XX, Brötzmann/Samba/Manderscheid, Tippett/Stabbins/Manderscheid/Samba and many more - here finally together in one line-up!
Frank Samba: "The true origins of our ensemble go back a long way, to the fall of 1989, when Peter Brötzmann played a duo concert with me at the Forum Arrenberg in Wuppertal. This resulted in a collaboration with him until 2003, from which I, as a rather "studied drummer", gained deep improvisational insights. Going beyond individual events relating to Brötzmann's work, I would like to continue to revitalize the genre in his spirit, on the condition that each of us has had personal contact with him over the years."
Thus all four are united by their love of improvised jazz, in which each of them has found and developed their own sound.
