Le plus Petit Grand Orchestre [Berlin]
Rotatonics inspire their audience not only with their joy of playing, virtuosity and charming manner, but also with their sophisticated arrangements and unusual instrumentation.
In addition to piano and electric guitar, they play singing saw, lapsteel guitar, organ and recorded dialogs and sound collages.
The duo consists of pianist Marie Elsa Drelon (e.g. Trio Mattar, Quintet Yira Yira, Das MitSingDing) and multi-instrumentalist Carsten Wegener (e.g. 17 Hippies, Shmaltz, Tants in Gartn Eydn, Lüül Band). Rotatonics emerged in 2019 from a shared passion for the Italian composer Nino Rota. The small Berlin orchestra developed its live program in intensive rehearsals - a mixture of tango, film music and classical music, often combined with freely improvised interludes.
