Science Slam on Sunday No. 20
Twice a year - in May and in November - the Düsseldorf Enlightenment Service, together with the socio-cultural center Zakk, gives science a stage. At the Science Slam on Sunday, human curiosity and the thirst for knowledge take center stage and find their way out of the ivory towers of universities, laboratories and study rooms and into life. What was frowned upon in Germany for a long time - presenting science in an exciting way, even with humor - is now finally becoming socially acceptable. Too often our heads fell on the table in tiring lectures and seminars... If you still think science is dry and far too complicated, come and see for yourself! At the Science Slam on Sunday, young scientists will prove the opposite on the stage of the Zakk.
The slammers' topics are not revealed in advance, but the rules are: each slammer has exactly 10 minutes to explain his/her research project to the unsuspecting audience. All conceivable aids are permitted and there are no limits to the imagination. Who will succeed in presenting their own research in a short, understandable, but above all entertaining presentation? The audience votes and chooses the winner of the evening!
