Three high-flyers present a program of entertaining 20th century music: up-and-coming pianist Elisabeth Brauß performs with young star trumpeter Simon Höfele, while Emmanuel Tjeknavorian appears as a charismatic conductor.

"When the audience laughs during the performance of my works, it gives me great satisfaction," Shostakovich is said to have said. His 1st Piano Concerto, in which a trumpet joins the piano, is rich in wry humor. The Concertino by Frenchman André Jolivet features the same instrumentation and unites virtuoso newcomers Simon Höfele on trumpet and Elisabeth Brauß on piano. The young Armenian-Austrian conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian leads the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.
