Under the direction of Marco Comin, the Bremerhaven Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off the Beethoven Year 2027 with two key works by Ludwig van Beethoven, spanning an impressive arc from the classical heritage to a revolutionary musical language.

Symphony No. 1 in C major, Op. 21, shows Beethoven still in dialogue with Haydn and Mozart—clearly structured, witty, and full of rhythmic finesse. With Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, “Eroica,” Beethoven finally breaks through the boundaries of symphonic music as it had been known until then. Monumental scale, dramatic contrasts, and a new depth of expression make this work a turning point in music history. From the elegance of the Classical period emerges a heroic, deeply human tone. Thus, on the 200th anniversary of his death, a concert is presented that brings Beethoven’s artistic breakthrough to life: from his self-assured beginnings to the musical vision of a new era.
