Lea Stein travels to the Hotel Schillerhof Resort & Spa for a job interview. The young mother is hoping to land a job with literary agent Erwin Groß. While Lea navigates the world of the wealthy—unsure, observant, calculating—migrant women clean the rooms and keep up the luxurious facade. Erwin Groß sleeps poorly, despite his success, and is looking for someone to handle the unpleasant tasks—at a reasonable price, of course. When an author is found dead in his room, everything changes: Who is allowed to stay? Who has to leave? And who will remove the blood from the carpet? (Claassen 2026)

Slata Roschal, born in 1992 in Saint Petersburg, earned her Ph.D. in literary studies from LMU Munich. She has received numerous fellowships and awards for her literary work, including the Free State of Bavaria’s Arts Promotion Prize. Several volumes of poetry have already been published by Reinecke & Voß, hochroth, and Wunderhorn. “153 Forms of Non-Existence” (Homunculus Verlag), her debut novel, was nominated for the German Book Prize in 2022. Her second novel, “I Want to Drink Wine and Wait for the End of the World” (Ullstein), was published in 2024.
