The Literaturhaus Leipzig experienced a truly overwhelming show of solidarity when it became known to a wider public that after thirty years and over 5,000 events, its existence would be in jeopardy from 2027 if it did not receive public funding from the city or state in the future. Newspapers, radio and television reported extensively. The tenor: Leipzig without a Literaturhaus? That's not possible! We were particularly touched by the fact that so many of our visitors from near and far, so many institutions and associations, but above all Leipzig authors, have repeatedly and emphatically pointed out how important this house is to them. Great videos were produced, shared, liked, statements and protests written, suggestions made and donations collected. This has helped us enormously. We want to say thank you for this and share it with the public. At the summer festival, some Leipzig authors will read from new and previously published texts and talk to the audience: Martina Hefter, Anja Kampmann, Jan Kuhlbrodt, Clemens Meyer, Kerstin Preiwuß, Giorgio Ferretti, Linn Penelope Rieger. Later in the evening, the band "Preliminary Injunction" from Halle will be playing.

Of course, there will also be a children's program in the afternoon, with a hands-on reading by Leipzig children's book author and illustrator Miriam Zedelius, a performance of "Hans im Glück" in a racy and funny production by Leipzig's knalltheater and the mobile book children's printing workshop!
