Damien Chazelle revives the Hollywood musical of the good old days and relocates it to the modern age of precarious employment. Emma Stone plays a waitress in Los Angeles who wants to be an actress, Ryan Gosling a jazz pianist who has to earn his money with odd jobs. They find each other, but will they find a way to happiness together? Swinging sound, overwhelming dance scenes and references to classic musicals - the opening sequence alone is unforgettable! And yet LA LA LAND does not sink into hopeless romanticism, but instead contains a good dash of realism.
