Sounds of the Lab Workshop - Gestalte Musik aus Wissenschaft | Ab 14 Jahren
In the organizer's words:
"Sounds of the Lab" is a collaboration between EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratories) and musician Stefan Wilczynski. Using recordings made by EMBL scientists in their labs—ranging from the hum of equipment and centrifuges to the sounds of everyday lab life—participants discover how scientific research can be transformed into lo-fi music.
Stefan Wilczynski, whose minimalist lo-fi beats have been streamed millions of times on Spotify and released on several vinyl records, guides participants as they sample, edit, and develop the lab recordings into their own tracks. With his background in social work and his experience leading workshops for all age groups, he creates an open and accessible atmosphere that focuses on creativity and hands-on experimentation.
No prior musical experience or personal equipment is required—just curiosity!
Music created during the workshop will be presented at the EMBL Festival of Science and Curiosity on September 25, 2026—a free public festival celebrating science, creativity, and discovery.
