Frankfurt, July 10, 2023 - In March of this year, Read Southall and his band wowed audiences as support for Blackberry Smoke's European tour, and now they announce their first headlining tour of their own and will be in the following German cities in February 2024: in Munich on February 11, 2024 (Milla), in Berlin on February 12, 2024 (Privatclub), in Hamburg on February 13, 204 (headCRASH) and in Cologne on February 16, 2024 (MTC). The current album "For The Birds" is still available in stores.They came, played and won: Rarely has a completely unknown support act been so frenetically celebrated as the Read Southall Band during the last Blackberry Smoke tour through Europe in the spring. So it's no wonder that the six-piece group around namesake Read Southall has announced its own headlining tour here in Germany. As part of its "World Tour 2024", the sextet will not only play in the Netherlands, France, Italy and Great Britain, but will also come to Germany for four shows, with the current album "For The Birds" in their luggage.It has been a long road for the twenty-something: Growing up in a suburb of Oklahoma City, Read Southall finished high school in 2010 and began studying. In 2015, he recorded his first album, "Six String Sorrow," and founded the band named after him in 2016. They tour with their own material and attract more and more audiences each time. Because their energetic country rock brings a breath of fresh air into the scene, the hit single "Why" from the second album "Borrowed Time" is now at almost 18 million streams on Spotify. The band members use the pandemic and the following isolation intensively, put the focus fully on the third album "For The Birds" (2021). This is ambitious and combines the powerful energy of rock with elements of country and southern rock, a mixture of classic and contemporary rock for fans of Gary Stewart, Joe Walsh, Rival Sons or Chris Cornell. The reviews of "For The Birds" are also consistently positive: 'American Songwriter' calls the album "a kind of exploratory journey through previously unknown musical terrain" and 'Raised Rowdy' declares that there is hardly a band currently causing such a stir. 'Riff' magazine also notes that the , "Read Southall Band combines the guitar sound of the late grunge era with Southern rock vocals and a country sensibility to create a sound that is outside the expectations of those individual genres." This comes as no surprise to the band's leader, "We wouldn't be a real band without this album. Because for a long time we focused only on touring, without thinking about the music as we should have. Somehow we needed the year without touring to make this album. And that's what worked. We had to focus. "The final lineup has also been found, with the rejoining of John Tyler Perry, the Read Southall Band is complete: Southall (v, g), Perry (g), Reid Barber (dr), Jeremee Knipp (b), Ryan Welman (g) and Braxton Curliss (k). Fun fact: The latter, by the way, started out as the band's merchandise salesman. "It took a couple of years; he took this old keyboard everywhere and bugged the hell out of us, but he's gotten really good at it now," Southall explains. "He keeps us together as a band, has been with us through thick and thin. That's why we're so strong."
