Spätschicht x Pop-Kultur Festival

To kick off the Spätschicht event series, we invite you to a live program of free concerts, performances and screenings together with the Pop-Kultur Festival. Spätschicht x Pop-Kultur Festival is curated by Yeşim Duman, independent music curator in the pop and club context.

No summer without music, art and queer ping pong: the participatory format combines table tennis with queer club culture and invites professionals and beginners to play on six table tennis tables in the outdoor area of the Gropius Bau. The Çaystube - Spill the Tea - designed as a performative open-air installation for the Pop-Kultur Festival - also creates an opportunity for tea, talk, gossip and queer, decolonial and post-migrant togetherness at Spätschicht . At the same time, a DJ set by Planningtorock can be experienced outside on Florentina Holzinger's halfpipe , while the Jimmy Robert class (UdK Berlin) presents interpretations of Yoko Ono's instructions for action from her book Grapefruit in the atrium, in the foyer and on the second floor. DJ and Hoe_mies founder Meg10 will take over the Halfpipe stage with a DJ set combining rap, RnB and electronic music. Inside, the Gropius Bau cinema will be enlivened by the fictional docu-soap Le Ping Pong d'Amour by Team Ping Pong, before Berlin rapper Wa22ermann closes the evening with an open-air concert.

Spätschicht - Live-Programm am Gropius Bau is a monthly, free series of events with an interdisciplinary program ranging from talks, book presentations and film screenings to concerts and DJ sets. It is sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, experimental and may also clash - a space to discover new things and change perspectives.

The six-day pop culture festival for music, readings, talks and art will take place this year from August 25 to August 30 in the silent green Kulturquartier and surrounding clubs as well as on the grounds of the Kulturbrauerei.
