For the second edition of our new event series Spätschicht, we invite you to a free live program with concerts, a DJ set, a book presentation and a screening together with the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Spätschicht x Volksbühne is curated by Marlene Engel, program dramaturge and music curator at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
The evening begins with the presentation of Vaginal Davis' new book Über gefährliches Terrain in the Gropius Bau cinema, followed by a screening of the first chapter of the film Cheap People Are Other People by the Berlin art collective CHEAP. The live program outside starts with a concert by Dylan Kerr on the south square of the Gropius Bau - in front of the former main entrance to the building. Bobby Beethoven will also present a DJ set there afterwards. The artist known as Total Freedom, among others, has been challenging classic forms of club sound for over a decade. Finally, rapper Cortisa Star, who has already conquered the internet with her music, will perform in Berlin for the first time.
Spätschicht - Live-Programm am Gropius Bau is a monthly, free series of events with an interdisciplinary program ranging from talks, book presentations and film screenings to concerts and DJ sets. It is sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, experimental and may also clash - a space to discover new things and change perspectives.
