STADTKLIMA: FLECHTWERK

In the organizer's words:

What do wicker baskets and advertising banners have in common? They can be woven! In this workshop, we will get to know one of the oldest handicraft techniques in the world and transfer it to everyday urban life. Instead of using traditional natural materials, we will work with used banner tarpaulins from the depot and transform them into new, surprising shapes. Strip by strip, the dexterity of our hands gives rise to bags, vessels, objects and our very own creations. Along the way, we take a look at material cycles in the city and ask: what resources are available right on our doorstep and what can be made from them? A workshop for anyone who likes to work with their hands, experiment and breathe new life into old materials.

The workshop is part of the Stadtklima - Nchbarschaft auf neuen Wegen project and aims to give young people from the neighborhood low-threshold access to culture and ecological sustainability.
