With over 100,000 Stumbling Stones laid, Gunter Demnig's project is now considered the largest decentralized memorial in the world and therefore an important element of the culture of remembrance and commemoration of the victims of National Socialism.

At the same time, however, it is precisely not about "masses", but about making individual fates visible - it is about giving people back their names and returning them - at least symbolically - to their last freely chosen place of residence and to the center of society.

In Cologne, where the project originated, the shiny stones can be seen everywhere. Our tour will take us through the Belgian Quarter and introduce us to some of the stories "behind the stones".
