On Sunday, September 13, 2026, Open Monument Day—under the theme “NetzWERKE: Monuments & Infrastructure”—invites you to discover the history of Schönefeld. Schönefeld Palace, Schönefeld City Hall, and the Gedächtniskirche with its Pyramid Garden will open their doors to the public.
At 11:00 a.m., a guided tour of the old town center will begin at Schönefeld City Hall, led by district conservator and city guide Georg Sedlmeyer. Afterward, the historic council chamber and the former wedding room will be open until 2:00 p.m. Look forward to chatting over coffee and cake, a collection of historical photos, and a participatory poster activity.
From 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., you can visit the Gedächtniskirche and the Pyramid Garden, which features the Eberstein family’s burial pyramid.
From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Schönefeld Palace welcomes visitors. Guided tours begin at 2:30 p.m. and run every 30 minutes (last tour at 4:00 p.m.); the palace tower is open until 4:30 p.m. Coffee and cake will be served in the castle hall.
