Talentschuppen vs. Des Pudels Kern

Yes, the band name is a direct reference to Goethe's tragedy "Faust". Founded in Hamm/Westphalia, the Soest/Dortmund/Menden/Münster-based quartet has been delivering German-language indie pop that gets to the heart as well as the soul since 2021: DES PUDELS KERN's songs strike an emotional chord and the lyrics oscillate between love and hate.

Frontman Christian Walter (guitar/vocals) was previously active in the bands "Die Glänzende Tragik" and "Schmetterlingsjäger", with whom he became Hamm's best up-and-coming band and won the "Best of Kamen" contest. The new formation with Nico Potthink (guitar), Jonas Dasbeck (bass) and Daniel Dully (drums) has already been voted "Best Band in the West" twice by the WDR2 audience. The songs "Am Ende des Regenbogens" and "Die Zukunft war früher besser" were responsible for this.

In 2022, the band released their debut EP. The successor "Paradies" was also recorded independently and was released in 2024 - for the song "Wer denkt schon an morgen", which is included here, the band collaborated with a certain Bernd Begemann, who sings individual parts on the danceable track. The following singles include an alternative (punk) version of "Ende des Regenbogens" as well as a live recording with a political message.
