Dorte Hartmann is the riot grrrl behind A MESS. You already know the Danish power woman from the noise pop band "TWO TRICK PONY". A MESS is armed with an electric guitar and packed with female stories: honest as hell, she channels the rebellious spirit of #MeToo and provides modern society with her contribution to the global feminism debate in alternative indie rock, which has already caused a stir not only in the domestic media but also on MTV. In 2024, A MESS was honored by IMPALA as one of the "100 Artists to Watch".

Musically, there's girl power rock in a poppy retro guise with a bright coat of paint: the modern sound mix of catchy tunes & tasty guitar licks is based on current indie punk and the power pop vibes of the early 1990s - just imagine if THE BREEDERS had fathered WET LEG and left the parenting to PUSSY RIOT.

Since the 2025 Christmas single, the band's own DIY label has been collaborating < Puffin Artlab > with the renowned German indie/punk label < Rookie Records >. More new releases are planned for 2026, with A MESS pushing the boundaries of their pop influences by fusing them with screamo elements, perfectly reflecting the wild energy of their live performance: Explosiveness and powerful, female self-empowerment - because there's a lot to be outraged about these days.

LIVE comes a dynamic and wild duo with vocals/guitar 'n' drums, led by Dorte Hartmann. The rousing show of A MESS has already been seen 100 times in DK and all over Europe, whether on their own club tours, at festivals such as SPOT (DK, 2022) or Copenhell (DK, 2025), the Waves Festival in Vienna (AUT, 2024) or as headliner at the Nordklang Festival (CH, 2023) - attitude and statement...the louder, the better. Joie de vivre & social criticism. Distorted guitars, hard drum grooves, 90s vibes. Swaying, thinking, questioning. Yesterday's youth is not cool, at least not always. They deal with crises emotionally and intensively - privately, politically, sometimes romantically: hard feelings, soft people. Irritating.

Musically, the Ruhr city duo from Dortmund has been creating a hypnotizing mixture of sophisticated guitar playing and dreamlike, strangely interwoven lyrics since 2020. DIE JUGEND VON GESTERN are shaking up the indie scene and are reminiscent of greats like Sonic Youth or Pixies, but also bands like Friends of Gas, Muff Potter or Culk. Between unadorned noise/post-punk guitar figures, they always manage to create great pop moments. Now also via my favorite chords on their self titled debut album.
