Tatar Conversation Club
In the organizer's words:
Our conversation club is a welcoming gathering place for people who miss their native language and would like to practice speaking Tatar.
We meet once a month on Saturdays in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Together, we drink tea, enjoy traditional Tatar sweets, play board games, take part in fun quizzes, and talk about a wide range of interesting topics. It’s a relaxed way to meet new people, practice the language, and have a good time together.
Everyone is welcome, although a basic knowledge of Tatar is recommended, as the entire event is conducted in Tatar.
Tatar is one of the major Turkic languages and the second most widely spoken language in Russia. It is spoken by more than six million people worldwide and has a rich literary, cultural, and musical tradition. World-famous Tatars include the legendary ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, former world No. 1 tennis player Marat Safin, internationally acclaimed composer Sofia Gubaidulina, and renowned opera singer Aida Garifullina.
