In the organizer's words:

"Light music for difficult times, the angry sound of bells from Epicurus' gardens, played and sung with fervor" is how essayist and soul DJ Reinhard Jellen aptly describes the sound of the band DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN. The band itself calls it simply: "Guitar pop from Munich".

They have set themselves the task of "bringing the ambivalent Munich attitude to life to life. The beautiful appearance meets the curb. Glamor and asphalt". Lush arrangements and smart German lyrics, performed with energy and enthusiasm, characterize the ENLGLISCHEN GARTEN - pop music with punk spirit.

English role models such as Madness, the Kinks or Dexy's Midnight Runners are particularly recognizable if you wanted to categorize the band's original, independent sound.

Their shared love of various varieties of POP culture brought Axel Koch (vocals, guitar) and Bernd Hartwich (bass), who had already made a name for himself with his band Merricks in the 90s, together in 2005. Since then, the pop orchestra DER ENGLISCHE GARTEN ("Sieben Leute. Old School. Mit Bläsern") has not only been thrilling Munich's live audiences.
