The Moobies
Formed in 2018 by a group of school friends, The Moobies play post-punk that blends nostalgic indie rock with the noisy
crankwave.
Their new EP, *KATABASIS*, will be released on August 28; they recorded it in the basement of their shared apartment. Rich guitar tones, driving drums, and atmospheric synths: layered instrumentals define the sound of these new songs. Inspired by their favorite artists such as Fontaines D.C., Deep Sea Diver, and Nothing But Thieves.
They wrote their debut album “All Long Gone” (2024) during the pandemic, in the void that followed their high school years. As winners of the Toys2Masters band contest, they were named Best Newcomer Band in 2023. They’ve already played at several festivals and, among other appearances, opened the Greenjuice Festival in 2024.
Live, the band unleashes an energetic performance that blends dreamy nostalgia with raw, infectious enthusiasm.

In times like these, comfort is a rare and precious blessing that only a select few can lay claim to. Some find it in the accumulation of material possessions or in work itself—in a life devoted to their career. Others find it in ignorance and cynicism toward everything that was and will be, retreating into their private lives. NIKITA CURTIS offers a more nuanced compromise: purposeful anger and disillusionment, yes, but with a dash of resilience to keep moving forward undeterred. What else is there? What can grow out of this? Their debut EP, “Where The Water Ends” (2024), provides a clear answer: music and artistic expression as a form of self-therapy. With a raw take on the post-punk revival, the quartet from Leipzig shows that even amid seemingly hopeless circumstances, every rain shower can be seen as a welcome respite from the overheated grind of everyday life. The anger here is honest, straight to the point. It’s that casually played groove that the descendants of the ’80s punks used to play—but just as much—and it really hits the mark. It’s the renaissance of a sound that, amid pandemics and wars, reflects the spirit of a generation in upheaval. It’s bittersweet—but also desperately needed.
